Once you come across the Skye bridge, turn right at the roundabout, signposted 'Uig' and 'Portree'. Follow this main road into the small town of Broadford (this is the south of the island's main town). You will go through a few small villages first, Lower Breakish, Skullamus etc.... Go past the Co-op supermarket, which will be on your right - petrol station is there too. About a further 300 yards on the left there is a Chip shop/cafe called the Waterfront go past that, and then turn left at the Broadford hotel, signed posted Ealaghol - (Elgol)
Set your sat-nav or milometer on your car as you will think you are on a road to no-where! It is a 15 mile journey which takes about 25-30 mins. Drive carefully as there are some bad corners, steep drops, sheep and sometimes cows just common grazing.
Do not turn off the main road - single track a lot of the time - you will come to a place called 'Torrin' about halfway to Elgol, here you have to go round 'Loch Slapin' and start climbing up the hill towards Elgol. You will then come to a small cluster of houses at Strathaird, about 2 miles on you will pass the small graveyard to the left, then a road off to the left which leads to 'Drinan'. Keep going and you will come to a cattle grid and gate, signposted Elgol/Ealaghol
Our houses are about 300-400 yards past the cattle grid, go straight on until you come to a bungalow on the right, on the hill, looking over onto 2 cottages and our bungalow (left hand side of the road). Our bungalow which is on the left hand side of the road, down a slight ‘dip’ has a sign post with a black cat on it, with the name 'Cawdor' on it. Cnoc na Loch is just behind our bungalow, you will see the parking bay inside the gate for your car(s).
*Remember you do not get mobile phone reception during this journey* (there may be a few cluster areas but they are very sparse)
